Dear Partially-Known. Well-known and Absolutely Unknown Colleagues on this Forum:

It is quite some time since I joined this wonderful forum but never quite got round either to being active as a member on it or even to introducing myself to the others here. What does that tell you about me? The first impression must be either that I am a lazy, laid-back and somewhat dim-witted mediocre person who hardly ever forms a personal opinion that he can confidently share or that I am an insensitive, narrow-minded and self-centred person who is incapable of thinking beyond his immediate existence or even that I am a snob who is so full of himself that he feels he can hardly afford the time to communicate with others. Whatever it is, though I cannot deny that all these traits do manifest themselves in me at times, I will surely try and be more involved in Uttarayan from now on ...

I am proud to call Santiniketan not only my real home but also my truest inspiration for what I do today as a professional. I passed out of Patha Bhavana in 1976, was a part of the first batch of Uttar Shiksha Sadana, completed my BA Honours and MA in English from Vidya Bhavana in 1984 and tried to be very deeply involved in the socio-cultural life of Santiniketan throughout my student days there. My professional career began with a short stint as a teacher in La Martiniere for Boys, Calcutta but very soon I left that to join The Telegraph as a journalist. After half a decade or so I left The Telegraph and Cal to go to Dehra Dun as a teacher at The Doon School where I remained for nearly 11 years. Thereafter, I tried my hand at heading schools and after fumbling around for a couple of years finally came to Hyderabad in 2001 as the founding Principal of an international school. I've done a reasonably good job here and as a reward have recently been kicked upstairs to the corporate position of the Vice President of the group's education wing where my job basically is to find opportunities and set up good 21st century schools in various locations in India and abroad.

One of the reasons I actually joined this group was that people like me that come from old Santiniketan families more often than not tend to take Rabindranath and Santiniketan as something akin to 'exclusive private property' without caring to comprehend the larger reality of what Rabindranath and Santiniketan actually achieved and should mean in the context of entire humanity, our nation and the modern times - and this forum promises in its own way to facilitate the liberation of our ilk from the clutches of such misplaced exclusivism.

Boria

Wow , what a great achievement. Looking at your track record it is obvious you have achieved it. I know your parents would have been very proud of you.

Well we all may be in the same boat wondering "ke ami" atleast one point is clear "amra Santiniketaner praktani".

Take care, congratulations on your recent promotion, wish you many more achievements like this in future.
Best wishes alays
Chandanadi
